My initial reaction was to delete the thread (both times I've read it). There's a fine line between posting about an interesting utility for the AHK community, and advertising a utility on the forum.
I personally prefer using system memory for the cache as it is many times faster than the memory in flash drives. Unlike other cache utilities I've tried, eBoostr lets you give priority to your favorite apps in it's cache, thus making it perform better when using small cache sizes. If you don't want to use your USB Flash Drive, eBoostr allows you to designate some of your system memory for it's cache. System 3 is an older computer that has a Rosewill USB 2.0 5-Port PCI Adapter installed to give it USB2 capability. System 1 is my newest machine having a Dual Core CPU and faster bus speeds, but processor speed is lower than that of system 2. Intel Pentium 4, 1.6 GHz CPU with 512 MB RAM: Read Speed is 16.0 MB/S, Write Speed is 8.3 MB/S Intel Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz CPU with 2 GB RAM: Read Speed is 26.3 MB/S, Write Speed is 10.2 MB/S Intel 6550 2.33 GHz CPU with 2 GB RAM: Read Speed is 31.0 MB/S, Write Speed is 10.43 MB/S

All systems are running Windows XP Pro SP3. I performed a speed test of a Patriot XT 4 GB USB Flash Drive on three different computer systems and I've gotten widely varying results. Worth noting is that I discovered that USB 2.0 Performance seems to be related to your PC's performance. To test the speed of your Flash Drive, do a Google search for the free "HD Speed" utility, and download it. But I also believe that Flash Drives are supposed to have a maximum "write" life expectancy. I have to believe it's not much of a concern though as Microsoft Windows Vista supports ReadyBoost Technology for use with USB Flash Drives. That's an excellent question that would be best asked in the forum on the Eboostr web site. Is it detrimental to the flash memory? I want to try, is there a way to know if my flash memory read speed is fast enough to get any advantage from using eBoostr? I have the current beta version running on 7 different Windows XP machines.
